About Me

I have been in the field of education for almost 20 years (and counting!). After earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, I worked as a high school teacher for more than a decade. I realized early on in my teaching career that mental health was prevalent in every single aspect of life, and I developed a passion for incorporating it into my lessons at school to make the content more relevant for my students. While it may sound cliche, I truly believe that knowledge is power, and I worked hard to create a safe space in my classroom for my students to dialogue, listen, and learn from one another. My hope was always that by talking openly about mental health, we could begin to reduce the stigma against it. 

 

Eventually, I discovered that I wanted to combine my love of education with my passion for mental health. I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University and began working as a school counselor in 2020, which I still do today.

 

In 2022, I realized through therapy (yes, therapists see therapists too!) that I wanted to dive even further into my counseling skills by opening a private practice. At that time, Case by Case Counseling was born. After three years of supervision, I earned my LPC in 2025 and began my journey as a solo practitioner.

 

My core beliefs in my private practice stem from those same beliefs I had in my teaching days. I still believe that creating a safe space is the foundation for building trust. I still believe that knowledge is power. I still believe that through dialogue and listening, we can learn from one another. And I still believe that mental health struggles should not carry shame or stigma. My entire goal as a therapist is to make clients feel seen, heard, and understood--while empowering them to become the absolute best version of themselves. ​
